“SUPER BOWL PARTY”
Pre-game party for the Non-Football Fan

Would you like to throw a Super Bowl party even though you are not much of a football fan? This kind of gathering has become an all-American tradition among people today. So, if you enjoy hosting parties but don’t fancy yourself an NFL expert, here are some useful hints for a great activity that can be both fun and educational!

Hints:
Make a list of people you would like to invite, and whom you think would enjoy a party with a football theme. You already know the date, make the invitation time about an hour or two before kickoff. This way your guests have a chance to arrive and socialize before the game starts.

Make a party budget based on the number of guests you are having. Decide what items will be necessary to make your party a success. Don’t be afraid to ask friends for suggestions, football fans and those who have thrown a Super Bowl party before will have valuable ideas.

Buy invitations, preferably ones that have a Super Bowl theme. These can be found at any party store. Send them out about a month prior, around New Year’s Day. Don’t forget necessary information such as RSVP date, directions and an item you’d like the guest to bring.

On or around the RSVP date, make a list of those who responded yes and phone those who have not yet replied. Now you have the exact amount of guests to buy for.

Make a list of items to purchase with your budget in mind. This should include decorations, snacks, drinks and utensils/ paper goods. A party with a Super Bowl theme should be a relaxed atmosphere with mostly snacks and finger foods. There should be no major food prep because you and your guests are going to be watching the game and be involved with the festivities that go with it.

Decorate for the party and make sure you have plenty of room for your guests to sit. The seats should be arranged in a way so that everyone can see the TV.

Prepare all food items about one half hour before guests are scheduled to arrive. This will ensure that everything is fresh, chilled or heated thoroughly and ready to be served.

Relax and enjoy the party. Once you have made sure that your guests are having a good time, focus on the game. Watch closely and learn, ask other fans questions pertaining to plays and scoring. If you find that the game does not interest you after all, you can delight in the half-time festivities and creative TV commercials.

A Super Bowl party is a terrific occasion for hosting a get together with your friends. It is easy to plan and fun to host. You may even learn a thing or two about football in the process. Even if you prefer the glitzy half-time shows and clever TV ads to the game itself, there is something to please everyone.
