MILTON AVENUE DAY HABILITATION
FUN TO DO
Hunger Awareness Month

The consumers at the Milton Avenue Day Hab program decided to create a poster that teaches people about hunger in honor of National Hunger Awareness month, which is June in the United States. Americans are encouraged to donate funds, food, and their time to food shelters in their communities. The consumers carried out their endeavor to end hunger by donating items to Project Hospitality, delivering food packages, volunteering their time at a food shelter, and creating a poster with helpful steps to conquer the hunger problem in this country.

Hunger Awareness Poster
Large piece of oaktag paper or poster board
Markers
Glue Stick
Scissors
Multi-colored Construction Paper

Step 1: Lay your oaktag paper or poster board flat on your workspace. Draw, or cut out pictures of fruits for the border of your poster with your construction paper.

Step 2: If you decided to cut out pictures for your border, using your glue stick attach your border to the edges of your oaktag paper.

Step 3: Using either your markers or your construction paper, write or cut out and glue the words “Hunger Awareness” at the top of your poster.

Step 4: Think up ideas to promote hunger awareness. You can do this either alone or with a group. It’s fun to work with friends or family members so that you can each think up one idea and share it. For example, one idea could be to remember not to waste food.

Step 5: Write down all of the ideas you have on your poster board.

Step 6: You can hang this up in your kitchen as a helpful reminder to continue the fight against national hunger.
